I have to write an essay about the book Silent Spring by Rachel Carson..Does anyone know a good way to start off Introduction (good thesis) and I also need to know what has changed regarding the environment since the book was written and what has NOT changed since book was written. Also, Is Carson a biocentric preservationist or an utilitarian conservationist and why. Another question is 'do u agree this book is important...what's all the fuss about?'

THANK U SO MUCH IF U CAN HELP!!!

  1. You can write about how she was wrong about DDT, and how her overreaction and myth-creation (there is no connection to bald eagle populations) led to the ban of DDT, which in turn has led to the spread of malaria.

  2. The problem is, you are going to be graded by a teacher, which means a loser who wants the government to run everything in everyones life, just like they do in school.  Teachers love stuff like silent spring.  Environmentalism is very often simply a facade used to increase government control over our lives and diminish our freedoms.  If your teacher is down with expansion of government power, then you should pretend the book was great and lucky it came along and forced us to stop using pesticides.
