Silent Zack Greinke adapts to new environment in Milwaukee
Zack Greinke from the Milwaukee Brewers recently got a chance to talk to the press in Phoenix, Arizona and he was very much vocal about his recent task to get acquainted with the environment in Milwaukee.
The former Kansas City Royals’ pitcher, who is now working with the Milwaukee Brewers made his way to the new club when he waived his no-trade clause in December. Though there are critics, who call the Brewers a small town club, Greinke doesn’t agree with
the assessment.
The city itself wasn’t a factor in the pitcher’s decision of heading over to Milwaukee. The player has a problem that comes in the form of social anxiety.
Quiet by nature, Greinke once considered leaving baseball due to his condition. The star doesn’t have the strength to face large crowds and that includes the press.
"There's more people to ignore in New York or Boston than there are in Milwaukee", he said, "But I would still ignore them, probably".
The player was never fond of pitching and even though that may be true, his social anxiety disorder is a big hindrance in meeting up with big crowds.
Playing with the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees is something he wants to do. If he had a chance to rid himself of the $27 million owed to him in the two seasons in exchange for no coverage by the press, he’d take it.
"Baseball, in my opinion, would be a lot better if you could just make the same salary as everybody else in the world and you don't deal with any of the other stuff", Greinke said.
The pitcher has the ambition to compete on the top stage but that isn’t going to come without a price. The player had a career in professional golf waiting for him when he considered leaving baseball for his treatment on the disorder but he isn’t thinking
about it now.
"I don't play anymore, because I know I'm not going to be a pro golfer", Greinke said. "So there's no reason to golf".
