Interested in having silk flowers for my wedding bouquets and presentation bouquets to the mother's. We are on a low budget wedding, so can anyone tell me how silk flowers compare with fresh flowers price wise?

  1. Cheaper and look that way too.  Don't go the silk flower route.  Better to have less of the real flowers than any silk fake flowers.  You can always choose a less pricey flower or smaller bouquets.

  2. if you shop around you can find some cheap and beautiful real flowers too but it all depends on the theme and style you want to wear.

  3. Well , I have done silk wedding flowers that cost just as much as real ones.  It just depends on the quality of the faux flower.

like this http://www.buyflower.com.sg/main/images/...   vs. this    http://www.hibiscusflorals.com/images/P2...

like evrything else , you get what you pay for.   What I suggest to my brides (im a florist) is this , for your bouquet and his boutinere , why not do the real thing?  If your bridal party is small enought , do real flowers for them too.  Leave the fake flowers for your reception and ceremony decor.  Some florist will sometimes "buy" back your silk flowers , afterall , you dont want 20 of the same arrangement.   You can also try alternitives to flowers for the reception.

such as beautiful candles , photos of you and the groom nicley framed and arranged around tea lights , get creative!!

In the end , the final word is yours , do what you feel is best for the budget and your taste.  hope this helps!

  4. Depends on quality of the silk flowers, the kind of flowers you're attempting to get and how many you need. I say consult with a florist about the real thing price wise then zip to your nearest craft store and compare. BUT remember that making your own silk flower bouquets may cost you something no bride seems to have enough of: time.

  5. silk flowers where i live this much more expensive but the flower bow cay as a memory lasts forever and does not come apart when you remove your corsage for the reception

  6. I grew some of my own flowers, like the gerbea daisies and carnations. The rest I got from a florist.

Some flowers are very easily home-grown if you have enough time.

    Daisies are pretty easy.

I've seen some silk flowers that were gorgeous and looked REALLY real, but they were more expensive. Anything that is within price range that is silk will look cheap. I agree with the people above. Centerpieces and the altar flowers/backdrop will be ok, but I would definitely go for fresh cuts with the bouquet, boutenier, and parents' flowers.

If you want pedals on the walkway, you can buy some great fake pedals for like 89 cents at xpedex.

  7. If it was for any other occasion then silk flowers are fine, even on your Wedding day as small table centre pieces, but as for your bouquet, or presentation to parents/in-laws, then the 'real thing' fresh and beautiful is probably going to be more advisable and appreciated.

Price wise, it doesn't have to be an over expensive arrangement of flowers, it's the thought that counts and to show your appreciation for 'your life' and for what 'they mean' that counts, not the actual price.

    Have a wonderful day !!

  8. Silk should be cheaper than the real ones.  I had three quotes on flowers for my wedding.  All of them had the silk cheaper.  One of them specialized in real ones.  So do not let them push you into the more expensive.

  9. that totally depends on the quality of the silk flowers, some these days can be a little more expensive or a little cheaper, but they will last forever.
