  1. as long as you have somewhere for ths 2 silkies to drink (other then the pond) because if they have to drink from the pond they could slip in Otherwise There should be no problems. .  chickens aren't stupid creatures and will not just fall into a pond =)

also what someone said about over - harmonized drakes is right BUT if you have females there will not be a problem as ducks will stay with their own kind. .

also if a silke does happen to take a fall into the water she should be able to get out as they can swim a little bit . .=)

  2. Chickens can swim to a certain extent and if they fall in they can get back out. They should stay away from the pond though, they arn't like ducks that want to stay near the water.

The only thing to worrie about is if you have male ducks. Males can be very stuburn and want to mate with the chickens. They can actually hurt the chcikens. Males will also attack them if they get near there girlfriends.

I had a male and 5 females the male would actually hurt my females and grab there necks and one time tore the skin off of one of my hens. It was horrible site. So I would watch that. Thats why I have 2 separate pens. I use to only have chcikens and female ducks but I wanted to hae some ducklings so I just made another coop.
