Sergei Silkin has accepted the blame for the terrible start to the new Russian Premier League campaign, and has resigned from the post of head coach
Dynamo Moscow head coach, Sergei Silkin, tendered his resignation to the management on Monday, after his side’s below par start to the Russian Premier League campaign.
The former Dinamo Minsk manager presented his resignation after his side suffered a 4-0 defeat in the latest league tie against Spartak Moscow at Arena Khimki. The White-blues recorded their third defeat of the ongoing campaign.
Dynamo dropped all three points in the opening league tie against Volga Nizhny Novgorod prior to their 2-0 defeat against Zenit St. Petersburg at Petrovsky stadium.
The Board of Directors have thereby approved the resignation from the manager, according to the official site of blue and white. However, the 51-year-old is likely to pursue his career as a general director of the club.
Silkin has taken full responsibility for his side’s third defeat against the Spartachi, admitting that he is to blame for Dynamo’s below par performances. He went on to reveal the reasons behind leaving the coaching position, insisting
that Dynamo needs fresh blood.
“I resigned and said goodbye to the team. The decision is solely mine. I am ashamed for the way Dynamo are playing at the moment. I hope that my decision will be beneficial for the club. I always tried to do everything for the
team. I'm in, of course, not the best, but I believe that the Dinamiki will be all right.”
“The resignation was the only way out. I have considered other options but the team needed a jolt, I am sure that now everything will fall into place.” The Russian national was quoted as saying.
Silkin was of the view that his side needs a little shake-up, insisting that the club is in need of a new manager who can implement new things in training.
The Dinamiki reserves manager, Dmitri Khokhlov, has been appointed as the caretaker manager until the Moscow-based club appoints someone for the vacant position.
