Silly Question: What would you consider to be the hunter jumper showing capital of the US?

I know everyone thinks that their stable is the best, but I'd like an objective opinion. I'm absolutely sick to death of living where I do and I'm looking for a fresh start. The problem is, I haven't any strong feelings about any one particular place and would like some ideas to investigate. Thanks!

  1. upstate ny but you have to look relly hard but it is worth it

  2. ocala, florida. that's where all the show horses go in the winter.

    or wellington florida. or both.

and new jersey (beacon hill show stable) or Connecticut in greenwich .

  3. NJ during the summer season

    Fl in the winter months

  4. I definitely would not call Kentucky the H/J Capital of the US.  While there are many shows at the KHP in Lexington, if you live there, there are very few hunter/jumper barns... a lot of eventing and dressage.  Absolute best horse care in the world though...

Virginia would probably be where I would go if I was looking for a new H/J scene.

Wellington in winter is big hotspot.

Vermont doesn't have much of a scene outside of the 5 weeks of the summer festival.

  5. Wellington, Florida

  6. Ocala, FL - horse captial of the world.

Wellington, FL if you're really rich - it is SOOOO nice there!

Then there's always Kentucky, the horse state, but more heavily populated by racehorses. Still plenty of hunter/jumper stuff there though.

Virginia, NC, Vermont, Tennesse, NJ all have lots of horse stuff going on, but I don't know the specific areas.

  7. "The Mainline" outside of Philadelphia.  Have good friends who live there, are very horse involved, a veterinarian, and attend their huge horse shows frequently(Devon).....It's definely worth a "look-see".  Also hunt country.
