Silly question but...what exactly is PETA?

I have heard ALOT about them...mostly bad...but some good. Like in my area they were talking about them posting a billboard about "Meat is Murder" and all the locals are like they didn't want their kids seeing that...but I didn't see the full story.

Anyways, what do they do exactly. Are they "good" or "bad"? Why was the billboard hated so much...if you know.

Thanks in advance.

  1. PETA does some rather silly things at times.

THey always side with the animals, and some of the actions they support are downright evil and unconstitutional.

They will try to steal a farmers land and livlihood from him by planting an endangered species on his land !  They will capture a rare lizard or fish, put it on his farm, and then tell the government to confiscate his land.

They also have whackos in their group who will release minks from mink farms, burn down laboratories, and even murder people.

They have planted fur from a rare cat on private and public property in order to stop private development.

Their tactics are criminal and fraudulent.

They are evil leftist communists and they will stop at nothing to get their way, even though liberal judges usually side with them.

  2. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.  An animal rights group with some pretty extreme views and tactics.

I'm all for animal rights, but PETA feels that everyone should be vegan, no animal should be kept in captivity, and throwing buckets of red paint on people wearing fur or leather is a good idea.

Some good ideas, some very bad delivery and negative press.  If you want to support animal rights, look for organizations such as the ASPCA, Sierra Club, Greenpeace, World Wildlife Federation or other nonprofit organizations who's protest strategies don't necessarily involve hurting other people to get their message across.

  3. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals - they are disliked because they take extreme positions and use extreme measures to get their points across.  Read for yourself at the link.

  5. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. They're an extremist animal rights group. If you ask me, they do a lot more harm than good. They use fanatical methods to spread their beliefs and try to bully people into agreeing. They do so many outrageous things I can't even think of them all right now, but just Google it.
