Manchester City are looking to tie down http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Silva-c10601 on a long term contract, as the club hopes to ward of any and all possible suitors, who might be looking to sign the player.
It is believed that City will be looking to finally offer Silva the same wages as some of the top earners at the club, as they feel the midfielder deserves to be in the same bracket as those players.
At the moment, the Spaniard is said to be earning around a hundred and thirty thousand pounds a week. Should the new contract be based on the rumours that are floating about, Silva could start to earn as much as two hundred thousand pounds a week.
Last season, Silva really stepped up to the plate and helped steer the team forward, as he controlled the City midfield.
Silva has gone on to play a hundred and two games for the club and during those appearances, he has managed to score a very impressive fourteen goals, while he picked up thirty seven assists along the way.
Real Madrid were reportedly looking to land the midfielder, as they were quite impressed by the way he performed in the Euro 2012.
City and Silva seem to be on the same page, as the player previously released a statement which confirmed that he was committed to the Manchester based club.
The midfielder is reported to have said: "I know City want to speak to my agents at the end of the season for a new contract, but I am relaxed.”
"I have two years still left and I am happy here. I have progressed as a player since leaving http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 and I am fighting to win titles. That was my aim when I left La Liga."
Should City go on and bring in a player or two to complement the midfielder, then Silva could go on and perform even better this coming season.
Many feel that his performances are directly linked with City’s success and in order for the team to do good, they need to make sure that their play maker is doing the very best that he can.
