Silver Dollar Fish (Metynnis argenteus)

Question

I was thinking on adding 4-6 Silver Dollar fish to my 100 gallon tank. Could someone please give me some general information on keeping and maintaining these fish, i.e. behavior, feeding, special care etc. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Very cool fish, my dad had one for years. They are very hardy and get along with other fish quite easily, 100 gallon tank is great since they grow very fast and get quite big. They like chewing off pieces of natural plants, but overall, very good fish.

a rather typical fish..

doesn't require anything special but will eat any live plants

IMO they are a good way to add some activity and shine to tanks with large cichlids or other fish you can't keep the average schooling fish with..
