Question:

Silver Molly - Internal Bleeding???????

I've never had Silver Mollies, I only have Black Mollies, but I got myself a Silver Molly yesterday but around her mouth area you can see red underneath her skin, today it's moved up towards her eye a bit and she's just sitting on the bottom of the tank.

I took her out for precautionary measures but what is this? I've never seen anything like it. She obviously doesnt feel good just laying around like that. She is pregnant, but my other molly doesnt lay around like that and she is pregnant too.

Is this contagious? I'm glad I didnt put her in my big tank!

Anybody have a clue what this might be???

Thank you in advance!

  1. If it is red streaks underneath the scales or open red sores that can appear to be bleeding it is probably septicemia, an internal bacteria infection.  The only other thing I can think about would be the PH burining her, but then your other fish is fine so that rules that out.  For septicemia there are numerous antibiotics that can treat it; I am not sure if it will effect her pregnancy though.  Septicemia usually only effects fish that are under a lot of stress or living in bad quality water; so if you have tested your water and know the parameters are safe I would say that she is just stressed out from the move and pregnancy and should be treated for an internal bacteria infection.
