Silver Roque tipped for success in Barnett Waddingham Handicap Chase
Silver Roque will be looking for a strong show in the Barnett Waddingham Handicap Chase at Bangor-on-dee in England on Thursday, October 4, 2012. He has got a decent record in such events and will be looking to make the most of his experience at this level.
However, the seasoned runner does not have a very good winning percentage, which will put him under some pressure. He has been doing a very good job for his team during the ongoing season and it will not be easy for others to prevent him from taking the top spot. A victory will earn him a cash prize of £3,054 in the end.
Stamina will be crucial in the 2 mile, 1 furlong and 110 yard event, which is scheduled to kick off at 15:50 GMT. All of the participants will be happy with the conditions, which have been described as good by the organisers at Bangor-on-dee.
According to the bookies, the best chances of victory are with Humbel Ben, who has been given a general starting price of 3 to 1. He will still not manage to get the attention of the punters, as his record in chase events is not a good one at all.
The nine-year-old gelding has appeared in a total of 21 events, winning three of them. However, he has only succeeded in one race while chasing out of 11 attempts, which is not a very good sign for his team. He will need to make a big improvement in order to finish ahead of his opponents today.
Coming back to Silver Roque, he has been doing a much better job in chase races and the punters should definitely place more bets on him compared to others. He will enter the event with a starting price of 4 to 1, which is not bad at all.
The Fergal O'Brien’s trainee has participated in seven chase races, winning just one of them whereas finished as a runner up on a couple of times. In addition to that, he has also secured the third spot thrice, which clearly shows that he likes running in this format. Seasoned jockey, Paddy Brennan, will be the one partnering him at Bangor-on-dee.
