Silver Salver preview
Henlow will host the Bookmakers Silver Salver final on Thursday. The £4000 550m race involves two preliminary rounds to determine the field for the final.
Henlow Bookmakers Silver Salver - Final
Barnfield Rockey will race from the first trap. He had no trouble finishing in first place in the Silver Salver semi-finals. He beat All That Noise by 1¾ lengths, but he didn’t look quite as good in the opening round heats, needing a push in the final stretch
to move up from fifth to third. He should be able to compete for a top three position in this race.
In trap two is Farloe Dasher. He’s finished in the top three in his past six races. He lost his Salver semi-final by a head to Directors Spur, and won his opening round heat by a head over Raving Black. He’s a strong racer with a good chance to win the Silver
Salver.
Dalcash Scolari won his semi-final and his opening round heat by 1 and 3 lengths respectively. He’s also won three races in a row, and led all three races early. He’s been the favourite in both his Salver races so far, and should be again in this race. He’ll
race from trap three.
In the fourth trap is Directors Spur. He also won both his opening round heat and semi-final races. In the opening round, Spur won by 6¾ lengths. Before the Silver Salver he was up and down with a win and a last place finish in his four races leading up
to the Salver. He’ll be racing against a very good group in this final, and will have a difficult time pulling off another win.
All That Noise has back-to-back second place finishes, but won his last race before the Salver. He was 6-1 in both rounds of the Salver, and will probably see those odds fall a bit. He’ll race from trap five.
In the sixth trap is Torbal Galileo. He was close to Dalcash Scolari in his semi-final, losing by just a length, but he finished third in the opening round, 7 lengths back of Directors Spur. In that opening round heat, Torbal was the 5-4 favourite, but his
odds dropped considerably in the semi-final to 4-1. He was bumped early in the race he lost to Spur, and he’ll need to avoid the crowd from the outside trap to have any chance of winning this race.
Best bet: It’s going to be a very close race, but that should mean the odds are good on just about every hound. Dalcash Scolari has the best chance of winning the race if he can get off to an early lead, and avoid crowding from the third trap. If you’re
looking for longer odds Torbal Galileo could be the hound to bet on. He’s racing from the outside, and could take advantage if the hounds in the middle traps crowd each other. His odds will probably be longer than they should be with no wins to his credit
in the Silver Salver.
