Silver Wren favourite for the Ladbrokes.com Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle
The bookmakers have shown faith in Silver Wren for the Ladbrokes.com Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle at Folkestone in England on Wednesday, February 29, 2012. The cash prize for winning the class-4 event is £2,738.
The event has attracted 15 entries and they are: Silver Wren, A Little Swifter, Generous Beauty, Glendun Annie, kindly Note, Mabel Tasman, Rhyming Sky, Alflorabunda, Sky Hole, Steady Girlfriend, Sudden Light, Sussex Sunset, Total Obsession, Wilde At Heart
and Wilde Ruby.
Renee Robeson’s trained mare has entered three hurdles in her career so far, but failed to win any of them. However, her performances have been pretty much decent, which will encourage the punters to place bets on her.
The five-year-old runner finished third in her debut race over hurdles. This is her best result till date, but she has a very good chance of bringing up her maiden victory today. She will be partnered by Sam Jones, jockey who has got a decent experience
in this form of racing. He has won 32 hurdle races until now, but needs to improve his strike rate.
Another mare, capable of winning today, is A Little Swifter. She has taken part in five hurdles until now and her record suggests that she is a terrific runner. She has been victorious once whereas ended up third on three occasions. This means that there
was only one race, where she failed to make it to the top three.
The six-year-old mare has the best chance of running to another victory over hurdles, as the rest of the participants are relatively inexperienced. She will be ridden by Alex Merriam, who has earned 30 victories over hurdles.
The bettors will be hesitant in placing bets against A Little Swifter, who is in a very good shape at the moment.
Other than the top two favourites, Generous Beauty also has a decent chance of delivering a good result. She has just raced once in her career, but failed to make a solid impression that time around.
However, the six-year-old mare has the potential of making it to the top three. She will be partnered by Andrew Glassonbury, who has earned 31 victories over hurdles until now.
This race appears to be a two way fight between Silver Wren and A Little Swifter. The latter of the two seems to have better chances of winning, but she will have to be at her best in order to do so.
