we have a really bad infestation, obviously been here b we moved in. i've been told that even if i do tell the council they wont do anything even though they destroy buildings by eating brickwork, is it true that they wont? and why the h**l do they think its a good idea to put a young family in a home full of bugs? surely they'd do something, if not for the structural risks then the health risks.

  1. "are you telling me that every site i've read and teacher i've listened to have got it wrong?"

I believe you have been misinformed. The nearest thing to the brick work they would eat would be the wallpaper I'm afraid. They survive on polysaccharides or starchy products. I doubt they would resort in eating brickwork either as they can actualy survive for around a year without eating. (see source below)

As for the Council doing anything to help you, I would waste your breath asking for their help. But you could always try emailing them just incase:

    Good luck

  2. They don't eat brickwork, mainly sugar and cardboard.

  3. Sounds like a call to the council and then the media if nothing happens.
