Silver lining for Scotsbrook Cloud at Exeter

Scotsbrook Cloud looks the horse to beat in the Bathwick Tyres Plymouth Handicap Hurdle at Exeter, providing he takes to softer ground.

He’s won his last three races, last time out he defied an 18lb rise in the weights and runs off the same mark today. He looked to have a bit in hand last time and with him being ahead of the handicapper should run well again today. The ground in an issue but he’s running well for David Evans and will be hard to beat.

Watamu Bay might be the market favorite but Voramar Two could be the horse to beat on his chase debut in the Bathwick Tyres Taunton Novices' Chase.

He won two staying hurdles earlier in the year and is sure to stay the trip even on the softer ground. He was pulled up in a Grade One at Aintree in April and has reportedly undergone a breathing operation. He’s built to jump fences and running for Phillip Hobbs he should challenge for the win.

Nigel Twiston-Davies will hope South O'The Border can win the Desert Orchid Restaurant Beginners' Chase and beat heavy market rival Royal Charm.

The eight-year-old finished second to Copper Bleu – who went on to win a Listed race at the Cheltenham Festival - here in February on his chase debut which looks like decent form. He went back to hurdles after that but struggled off his 135 mark.

He should improve over fences and with Royal Charm having never tackled a steeplechase South O'The Border looks a safer bet.
