Silverado or Sierra?

Question

I've been thinking bout purchasing a new GM bodystyle pickup. I love the GMC grille but I like the Chevy's fenders they are more muscular. I've owned many different brand pickups but have decided to go with GM this time. I think they have the best looking 08 models

I like the GMC more, because I think the rear wheel openings look weird on the Chevy.

theyre the same basically but the sierra is just a little hgher end

Just so you know, the silverado and sierra are the same truck, save a few differences in options and price. I too love the GMC for its big in-your-face grille. GMC's tend to be slightly more luxurious and expensive. On the other hand, Chevrolet has a larger dealer network, though I bet any GM dealer that could would service either truck. Personally, I'd go for the GMC. It's more comfortable and that huge grille catches more looks than muscular fenders.

They are almost the exact same truck with different badging.

They are built on the same platform with the same drive-line components.  All of the electronics are exactly the same.  99.9% of the parts from one are completely interchangable with the other.  There are only minor differences in trim.

Pick the one YOU like best.

Here is the Real scoop. They are the Same truck, forget what you hear about different plants or parts, they are the same. unless you get the Denali version... You will also pay more for the GMC version of the same thing. So, since a custom grill is MUCH cheaper than changing fenders, buy the silverado and just replace the grill with the money you save. That way you will have a more custom truck and you'll get the fenders you like anyway. Another thing to keep in mind " And you heard it here first kids"  GMC is Dead!  GM will be closing them down in a couple years, there is no point to having twins of everything. 2010-2011 No more GMC

i have a silverado duly with Alison transmission.

its a very powerful truck and towes allot. just the tires are so small. but you can have them replaced

You already know that they are the same truck so I won't insult your intelligence by telling you that. Personally, I like the looks of the Sierra better. That Chevy grill is just plain ugly. No matter which brand you decide to go with, here is what I would do. Go to your Chevy dealer and spec the truck the way you want it. Get a price quote from them. Then, go to your GMC dealer and spec the Sierra the same way. When they give you the price of the Sierra, show them the quote on the Silverado. I guarantee that they will either match it or beat it. If you feel like it, you can go back and forth between them to get the best price possible. Maybe even throw in a quote from a Ford and dodge dealer just to let then know you are serious about buying a new truck.
