Question:

Silverfish and spiders in my room?

I moved into the attic of my house almost a year ago(to get away from my sister).

It's all fixed up and nice.

But, there are spiders(which I don't mind too much) and silverfish.

Does anyone know any good bug sprays or tricks to get them out?

My mom said that they would go away as time passed because I'd be living in the room and they wouldn't like it.

But, they haven't.

  1. Try putting boric acid around your room.  Its a blue powder and you can get it in any hardware store, Home Depot, etc.  The bugs crawl through and it will slowly destroy their bodies.  It doesn't smell and its safe for pets.   The one I bought came in a bottle much like a squirt mustard bottle.  I applied it all around the room and have seen fewer and fewer.  And its cheap!

  2. U can repel or send the silver fish by placing Naphthalene balls in their habitats. But for spiders u have to check and remove their webs regularly indicating them it is not safe to build their home there.

  3. Call the pest control. They DO NOT go away in time. In fact, the longer they are there, the bigger the "population".

  4. they won't go away on their own. i worked for a pest control co. for 3 yrs. i suggest you call a good company in your area. it shouldn't cost very much, and should only take one good spray for the pests you're describing.

boric acid will kill some pests but not silverfish or most spiders.

  5. They won't go away with time.  IN fact, they just get worse.  Silverfish are not cool.   Get a dehumidifier and spray.

I hate silverfish.  They destroy books.
