Silverfish and stuff?

Are they dirty? Would it be gross if I picked one up, not because theyre hideous, but just because?

I have a bathroom about 8 or 9 feet away from my room, with a folding door thats easy for bugs to get through, id imagine, from my bed. what are the odds that a silverfish or two would get into my bed? Especially what are the odds after ive been grossed out thinking of it for the past 15 minutes? Is there any type of cedar type spray that I can spray everything including fabrics with? I dont want anything poisonous in my room, for I have a little sister. What are the odds, and is there really a huge reason to be grossed out, or scared of them? Thanks everybody. :D

  1. Silverfish will do you no harm.  They particularly like bathrooms because they tend to migrate towards damp plaster.

No need to be scared of them at all.

  2. They are a very ancient form of life and I rather like them.  They can live on minute quantities of food like a grain of flour or wallpaper paste.  Unless there are vast quantities of them just see them as an unusual sort of pet.

  3. We actually had ants crawling in the bathroom of a 3rd floor single family home and when they kept coming back, I asked an expert for advice. He recommended BORIC ACID and said I simply could go to the grocery, hardware store, Walmart or Target and look in the laundry detergent aisle for BORAX. He said the ants would crawl into the Borax/Boric Acid and it would stick to their legs...

Guess what? At first I didn't seem to be working but the white powder detergent later became a pile of dead ants and even silverfish!

    Hope the Above Info Helps!

  4. Oh my god!  Those things are so ugly!  I don't have them but I've seen their pictures on wikipedia.  I would NEVER touch those hideous things.  And I don't care, if I see something like that in MY bedroom, I'm gonna use poison to personally kill each and every one.  I'm sure you've seen centipedes before?  I used to have them, but now I use Raid.  Let me tell you, it's the best bug spray around.  I hardly ever see a bug anymore, and I'm just so relieved.

  5. silverfish mostly eat books, the pages and the glue in the binding, so they are definitely not interested in you.  are you sure they're silverfish?  there are all kinds of essential oils you can use to repel all sorts of bugs, there are plenty of websites devoted to natural solutions to this kind of thing.  health food stores will also have a whole aisle devoted to this.

  6. You can buy cedar chips and put them in a nylon or a type of bag that the smell can be let out.  I prefer to spray the site where I see them and then put out the cedar chips.

  7. Silverfish won't harm you by biting or stinging, but they will cause damage to your clothes, and books etc  :(     try this link for some good info:
