  1. I have used Bayer Advanced Home Pest Control (available in gallon spray bottles) to get rid of spiders, ants, and roaches. It is supposed to get rid of Silverfish as well. If you treat with it every month or two, that should get rid of them and keep them out. A treatment is supposed to be good for up to 9 months, but it seems to work better if I treat every 2.

  2. Sprinkle some Cayenne pepper around in the area that they are living.  They hate to feel the burn, and will leave immediately.

  3. Hire Orkin first and have your home completely fumigated.  But in general you have brought something into your home that breeds silverfish.  They are about dirty so you have to clean out everything and get rid of everything that you don't use or haven't used.  Somehow you have brought them in.  Clean everything out that could be stocked somewhere you aren't thinking about.

  4. DONT PUT WET STUFF ON THE FLOOR!

  5. I don't know how to help you but if you tried hiring an exterminator or buying some combat raid poison? I think they have pest control do it yourself kits that you can use to bait your silverfish nyc into and then hopefully it'll kill them.

    Hope this helps.

  6. there are several powders and sprays sold in most stores for your problem , be sure to apply them around water inlet pipes and drains , as that's where they mostly enter your home.

  7. they will be coming from the attic / wall areas of the structure so the better it is sealed the better protection you will have from them.  Best you can do other than sealing obvious points of entry would to treat those areas with a residual insecticide, not really totally getting rid of them but just keeping them at bay

moisture is not always the key...high humidity, which can be from moisture, but can also be in just locations like near the coast

  8. slit there tiny little throats

  9. The only poisons recommended for killing silverfish and firebrats are insecticidal dusts such as diatomaceous earth and Borax. These should be used in cracks, under and behind furniture and appliances, and inside walls and crawlspaces. Keep these out of your breathing air and inaccessible to both children and pets.

  10. There are products out there to kill them.

Here's a site to take a look and that give you some ideas

  14. I always use a Bug spray called Bengal, you can buy it at Ace Hardware! The can has a Picture of a Bengal Tiger on it,and it has Little or no smell! It has a Money back Guarantee and it does the Job,as it kills many different Bugs and keeps killing for weeks! Good-Luck!

  15. diatomaceous earth-food grade

    buy it online

Also, as a computer teacher, my classroom is full of packs of paper. They love to feed off it. Terminators come in once a year to spray. However, I don't know what they use.

  16. Whole cloves. Silverfish supposedly don’t like the smell of cloves. You can help deter them by placing whole cloves in places where they are likely to be found.

Boric acid. Boric acid powder is a natural insecticide that sticks to the legs of silverfish and is taken back to the nest. Works well for dusting hard to reach places.

  17. They are only present when they have moisture. Get rid of the moisture and you get rid of the silverfish. nyc is humid so turn your a/c down a little. The longer the a/c runs the more humidity it will draw out of your house. The more humidity you draw out of your house the less moisture for the silverfish. Hope this helps. I don't know how much elec. costs in nyc, but I know that it works.

  18. smash them? you may want to google  it or call an exterminator, they can be tricky to get rid of...good luck:]

  20. Yeah, they are a real pain and I hate them too. They usually come around where there is moisture and I think they come up the pipes in a house because they end up upstairs and that is the only way. Try using a can of that expanding stuff in a can that you can stop up any openings around any pipes under all sink and tubs or anyplace water pipes come through the floor. That may help some. Then try to keep any damp areas dry....hang damp clothes and towels to allow them to dry while you wait to do the laundry so that doesn't attract them. Then lastly you might need to just bomb the whole house...take a day when you will all be out for the day and use the bombs that they use for fleas, they also kill other insects. That should take care of the problem for a long while. Good luck. Miss Mary

  22. Jasonfro I would spray around baseboard molding on my walls with Hot Shot roach and ant killer.  It will cost about $3.00 for each aerosol can. Pay close attention under sink and around toilet.    I know green is  in,  but I would want them gone asap.

  23. I live in NYC and a neighbor had a huge problem with silverfish.  She had to paint her apartment, she had all the tiles in her kitchen, eating area and living room (because they are connected) pulled up and new ones put down.  She also had her cupboards replaced.  It may have been a picnic for the silverfish but, certainly not for her (no pun intended).

    GOOD LUCK!

  24. Try to construct a screen barrier to delete the passage of silver fish into your home.
