The Tim Easterby-trained grey gelding, Silvery Moon, marvellously came up to the punters’ expectations by winning Your Favourite Pool Bets At Totepool.Com Handicap here at Ayr racecourse on Sunday, July 8.
Being the 2-1 favourite runner, Silvery Moon demonstrated a convincing and impressive performance against 8 strong rivals to notch up top spot by the margin of 1 ¼ lengths. He ran under David Allan to accomplish the glaring title.
It was the star horse’s second success at Ayr. The first one came on September 15, 2011 when he elegantly won the Isle Of Skye 8-Y-O Blended Scotch Whisky Handicap (Div 1) despite being an underdog.
In the yesterday’s marathon, the brilliant son of Verglas out of Starry Night showed his class once more, earning a lot of applause and spiking up his confidence level to a great extent.
Overall, the Colin Kennedy-bred gelding has won 3 of his total 15 starts so far since debuting in May 2010. He broke his maiden in August 2011.
On the soft course of Ayr, Silvery Moon proved to be a strong and offensive sprinter who did not give any chances to his competitors to dominate him. From beginning to the end of the 1-mile track, he ran with smooth and clean pace.
The Declan Carroll-trained chestnut gelding, Prophesy tried to impede the hot favourite horse but failed, finishing as a runner-up.
Star Surprise grabbed third position on the podium while Le Chat D’Or walked away with 4th spot. Silver Rime finished 5th while Blues Jazz clinched 6th position.
Chiswick Bey and Northern Fling got 7th and 8th spots respectively. Master Of Ages was the tail ender. Thus, there took place a thrilling and exciting competition on the weekend. A huge crowd of the sport lovers enjoyed the action live
at Ayr.
Silvery Moons seems to be awash with confidence following the grand victory. His trainer believes that he will continue to perform with the same rhythm in the upcoming events. It is not yet know where the gelding will run next. However, whatever the race
will be, he is likely to earn a favourite tag for it.
