However, things took a bad turn for the veteran stopper and he left the Bundesliga for a fresh challenge. Choosing to stay in Manchester till Christmas, Silvestre was offered the chance to train with the current United team by Ferguson and the player did
not think twice about joining.
Reports have emerged that he could make sensational return in the famed Reds’ jersey, but the player himself has removed all doubts and claimed that he was at the helm only to train and maintain his fitness levels.
“I am back to train. I came a few weeks ago and had a chat with the gaffer just before the Capital One Cup game. I said I was coming back to Manchester until Christmas and he said ‘come and train and stay fit until you move to somewhere else’. When you are
training with the lads you feel like you are still capable of playing in the Premier League. I am fit, that is the main point, and I still have the hunger for the game. So this level is still the level that I am targeting.”
He also added that although he has been away from the club for more than four years now, he still remains in contact with everyone and was glad to back to the side which made him famous.
“We have always kept in touch. Four years away is really short but it’s nice to see a lot of people and faces that I know."
