Silviniaco Conti bagged a massive victory in the Grade 2 John Smith's Mildmay Novices' Chase at Aintree
Silviniaco Conti crushed all competition, and comfortably broke through the wire in first place in the Grade 2 John Smith's Mildmay Novices' Chase at Aintree on 13th April, 2012. Mounted by Ruby Walsh, the duo performed in an
outstanding manner.
With his sheer skill, and precise guidance of Ruby Walsh, Silviniaco Conti took the track by storm, and finished first by an immense margin of 13 lengths ahead of Champion Court, who was his biggest threat on the track.
Join Together, who is the stable mate of Silviniaco Conti, finished the race in third place, as he fell 12 lengths behind the runner-up, whereas the fourth place was secured by Solix.
Silviniaco Conti, son of Dom Alco, out of mare, Gazelle Lulu, finished fourth in the Grade 2 Sodexo Prestige Reynoldstown Novices' Chase at Ascot on 18th
February, 2012.
The six-year-old gelding is trained by Paul Nicholls, who stated to the press that:
"He's a good horse," Nicholls further commented that "He really disappointed me when he ran at Ascot, but all our horses were wrong at the time and we left him out of Cheltenham for this meeting.
"He's a young, improving horse and we're really looking forward to next season with him. He'll be a really nice three-mile chaser."
Champion Court, son of Court Cave, out of mare, Mooneys Hill, pleased his connections with his second place finish.
His trainer, Martin Keighley told the press that he still performed well and landed a respectable finishing, emphasising on the fact that his participation in the Cheltenham Festival has taken the “edge off him.”
Keighley told the press that the seven-year-old gelding will be going on a break, which he has thoroughly deserved, and may compete in the King George next season.
Silviniaco Conti’s performance in this race has stirred attention from the bookmakers, and they will be keeping a keen eye on him from now on.
William Hill has given him a 12 to 1 chance for the 2013 Cheltenham Gold Cup, and has installed his as the 10 to 1 choice for the King George VI Chase. Paddy Power has given him odds of 8 to 1 for the King George event.
