Silvio Berlusconi: Ronaldinho is going to remain in Milan forever.
A.C. Milan President Silvio Berlusconi has stated that he has a personal agreement with the Brazilian star and former World Player of the Year; Ronaldinho, which will see the player stay at Milan for the rest of his playing career and even after he stops
playing.
In a press conference where the Milan Chief unveiled the new Team Coach to the Italian press, Berlusconi went on to discuss a number of things including his team’s tactics, investment in to the club during the last seven years, the way the club has been
run and potential transfer business.
New Coach Massimiliano Allegri, who joined Milan after two years with Cagliari, was not given a chance to speak to the press, as Berlusconi stole the spotlight, with the press asking questions and the President answering.
The Milan President addressed the fans protesting his leadership and how the club has consistently out-spent every other team in the Italian Serie A, using €461million over the course of seven years. Fans have been left frustrated after a trophy-less campaign
last season, with fierce rivals Inter Milan completing an unprecedented treble under the Portuguese manager, Jose Mourinho.
Berlusconi talked in detail about Ronaldinho, whom he called the greatest player of all time and the prime attraction at A.C. Milan. The President also informed his new coach that he wanted Milan to play the most attractive football in Italy and win every
competition they enter, so that the fans can be rewarded for supporting the club through what has been a rather difficult time.
The Milan Chief also revealed that the Spanish giants, Real Madrid, had tabled a bid for Thiago Motta but that it was turned down despite the substantial sum offered by Madrid. Berlusconi stressed on the importance of keeping the current squad together especially
players like Andrea Pirlo, Pato, Ronaldinho and Clarence Seedorf as the newly signed players like Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Robinho were becoming a threat to their careers.
Coach Allegri said during the interview that the Italian and European Champions at Inter are better than those at Milan, Roma and Juventus. However, the coach also said that it was possible to break the cycle of victories for the rival Milan club and he
was planning on doing just that in his first season as manager of A.C. Milan.
Allegri pointed out the importance of derby matches and said that even last season if Milan had managed to win the derby against Inter, they may have been able to turn around the one point instance, and matches against Inter would prove to be the difference
in the coming season.
Allegri was happy with his team's performance as he stated that the win against rivals Inter Milan was the most important victory for them during their run for the Italian league title. Milan are now 9 points ahead of the current Champions Inter Milan and
it is Rafael Benitez who should be looking forward to being sacked rather than Allegri who was expected to leave the club as his side were not performing their best when the season started.
