Sime Darby performance bolstered Choi's morale
South Korean Na Yeon Choi might have failed to defend her title at the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia 2012, but a runner-up finish has certainly bolstered her morale and she is now set to take on
rivals at the upcoming LPGA Hana Bank Championship 2012.
No matter how tough the battle at Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia 2012, held in Kuala Lumpur, might have been, nothing is as thrilling for Choi as competing at the LPGA Hana Bank Championship.
First off, the LPGA Hana Bank Championship is going to be staged at Incheon, South Korea, which means Choi is the player local fans will want to get behind the most.
Observers said that this is the most important factor as crowd support and home soil always play an important role in a player’s performance.
In addition, Choi’s record at the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) tournament makes her the strongest contender as she has racked up two titles, in 2009 and 2010, while she finished
runner-up last year.
The South Korean star said while speaking to the media in her latest interview that she regretted not finishing the Sime Darby LPGA Championship as the top performer, but her confidence has
shot up to an all-time high.
Choi performed well in the four rounds of the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia 2012, held last week at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club, but fellow South Korean Inbee Park subdued her on the final
day, beating her by two strokes.
It was an interesting battle for Choi, despite the fact she was the defending champion and failed to win.
She heaped praise on Inbee Park, appreciating her stellar performance.
“Of course Inbee, she is one of my really close friends and she won, so that's why I really congratulate her winning,” shared Choi who has recently become the number one female golfer in
South Korea following her rise to the third position in world rankings.
“Even though I lost this game, there will be a next game, the other game coming up, and I will play against Inbee Park and the other players, so I need to work on my practice and skills,”
she enunciated her goal for the LPGA Hana Bank Championship 2012 .
