The defending champions will be looking for their 17th consecutive win in this competition. At the moment they are on top of their group and if they even a point from tonight’s match will enable them to proceed to the
next round.
So far in this competition, Simeone has fielded young players and has revealed that he intends to continue in this way since he has faith and confidence in them.
“We have boys and we know how they work,” the former Colchoneros midfielder began at his pre-match Press conference.
The Argentine coach has revealed the only way his young players can improve is when they get more minutes and exposure on the pitch. He hopes doing this will mean that they will prove their worth to the club.
“The only thing that can improve them is the amount of minutes you give them. These kids are growing well and hopefully they will meet the expectations we have of them.”
The 42-year-old also commented on what his objective is and his method of approaching things. Focusing on the moment and seeking success is some of the things they do at Atletico.
“We try not to think about what lies ahead. We always seek to win, not to tie.”

The former player admitted Academica are a tough nut to crack and revealed how this week is important for the Primeira outfit.
“They are a tough opponent, fast, and it's an important week for them, they have to play Porto.”
Finally, defender Silvio, who is himself Portuguese, was made responsible for the press conference.
“I like Academica. They have speed and good players. They are a team that plays good football.”
Atletico Madrid suffered their first defeat of the season in La Liga. That defeat put an end to their eight consecutive victories in the Spanish Primera Division.
