i was wondering if similac alimentum is supposed to help with gas, my 4 m/o is very gassy, causing him to cry all the time.. he used to have colic (which they said could be gas too) but i read that alimentum just is for protein sensitivity, hes been on the alimentum for a few months now, and its not helping the gas.... i have to stay with similac bc thats all wic offers, but i was wondering if theres a better type, such as similac sensitive maybe? if anyone has been in this situation and found something that works aside from mylicon and gripe water, please let me know

  1. My son is on Similac Sensitive... It doesn't have lactose in it (He's lactose intolerant). But it is supposed to help withe the fussiness due to gas and spit up... My son wasnever a gassy baby, but I do know it helps with the spit up. LOL!

My son does great on the similac sensitive. (There are two different ones, Similac Sensitive and SImilac Sensitive RS. Although they are both almsot identical!)

  2. If your son is on Alimentum there is a reason, it is a hypoallergenic formula, which is easier to digest, you shouldn't change him without talking to his Dr.

  3. similac sensitive is the same like enfamil gentle ease. My son was on that and it worked. I would switch off the alimentum. I know of a baby on that because she has problems gaining wieght.

  4. Have you tried Similac Sensitive, yet?

  5. Our daughter is on the same thing right now and had a lot of gas at 1st we put some rice cereal in it and she has changed a lot and doesn't have as much gas any more. :) If that doesn't work i would try the sensitive. Ask your doctor maybe they can help whats best for your baby since every baby is different from the other. Good luck!

Also i forgot if you have to put your child on a different formula and it is because they cant have a certain formula you can do it through insurance and get a lot for a little. We are having ours through insurance because it is a medical reason for her to be on this one. That will open your options a little if you even have health insurance.
