  1. Pike's Peak. It should be right up your alley. Both are above treeline and have lots of unprepared tourists hiking the trails on a summer day. Both have a cog railroad and a road to the top, so you can pose with your backpack that you took out of the car trunk and make it look like you just climbed the peak, when in actuality you just drove to the top in your mini-van. Both also have a place at the top to buy a hamburger and a cheesy T-shirt that says "I made it to the top."

Personally, I can't think of two other mountains that are that similar.

  2. You aren't getting any answers, so I will take a try at it.

Mt. Washington is only 6,288 ft and there are thousands of peaks in the US that are higher. In fact, if you were in the Rockies (CO) or in the Sierras (CA) you would have a hard time finding any peak that is smaller. The one I see out my window right now is over 10,000 ft and isn't even worth mentioning. Ever think of coming to Lake Tahoe? You could climb Mt. Tallack or Mt. Rose and get your wish.

Are you looking for another peak in the Eastern USA? There is Mount Mitchell in North Carolina at 6,684 ft and Clingmans Dome in Tennessee at 6,643 ft - both higher. Maybe these are closer to you.

If you need any more help, maybe you could add some more information to your question.

    Good Luck

  3. There are a few if any mountains like Mt Washington in the US  and  only a couple that are lower .

What makes Mt Washington [and the Presidentials ] really interesting  is not it's altitude [which Tahoe T dismissed as insignificant and not worthy of a real mountain] But rather that:

It has a timberline of about 3600' above that you're hiking on talus and tundra

It has some of the worst weather in the world on it

The highest wind speed ever recorded on the planet - 231 mph- was recorded on it's summit and if you climb it be prepared for some really nasty weather

Mt Katahdin ME though 1021' lower is similar

Note :The summit of Katahdin  is the northern end of the Appalachian Trail

That cairn on summit  is 13' tall

Thoreau was up there once and commented that "it looks like it had rained rocks"

    The soundtrack makes no sense

Doing the Knife Edge in wind will scare the h**l out of you

Have fun and don't underestimate the challenge  of Northern NY & New England mountains
