I'm looking for a "hobby" my nieces and I can enjoy together and playing games like monopoly, pretty pretty princess, or any of these types of games bore me to DEATH.

Warhammer gets WAY too expensive and is still a bit too complicated for my nieces to start up...

I was wondering if there are any other games that are similar that I can look into getting started with my nieces (they are 8 and 10 and very smart and enjoys things like chess and checkers... I am 24).

  1. Consider the Wii...

  2. If you want a miniatures game, with a more limited collectability aspect, look into HeroScape.  You can go nuts with it, of course, but it plays well with basics too.

    Some other, non-mini games I'd recommend -

Hey, That's My Fish - fun strategy game, hidden in the guise of little wooden penguins.  http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/8203

Once Upon a Time - using a deck of cards to create a fairy tale as you play, fun and creative.  http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/1234

If you want to stay with Fantasy, here's a good starting point - http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/11...

    Happy gaming!

  3. I would recommend that you play HeroClicks.  It is a very fun and cool game that will bring hours of enjoyment to you and your nieces.

  4. If you decide to look into Collectable Card Games, I'd say try Legend of the Five Rings.  It's like Magic, only less pointlessly confusing and more nifty samurai.

Betrayal at the House on the Hill is a game where you create your own horror movie.  The whole thing is specifically set up so that no two games are ever alike.

Most miniatures-based games are going to be VERY expensive, at least in the long run.  And usually equally complicated.  I suppose the other big problem with Warhammer, is that it's strictly two-player, not allowing for third players.
