Simon Dyson eager to return to his form at the Najeti Hotels et Golfs Open – Golf News
Simon Dyson of England is looking forward to return to his winning form, when he tees of this week at the Najeti Hotels et Golfs Open presented by Neuflize OBC, on Thursday, June 13, 2013.
The tournament is sanctioned by the European Tour and will be played parallel to the second major golf championship of the season, the US Open.
For the last few weeks, the Englishman is consistently participating in the tournaments, in a bid to find his form that allowed him to secure six European Tour titles during his career.
This will be his fifth start of the run that is expected to stretch to around nine weeks, or even more, if he managed to make it into the Open Championship in July.
Talking to the European Tour’s official website, he expressed his pleasure in performing well in the past few weeks. At the same time, he was concerned about his below par finishes in each of the starts he made – he has not been
able to record a single top-20 finish this season.
“I’m playing some really nice golf at the minute and not really getting any reward,” he said. “A week could turn it around, and that’s why I’m going. It doesn’t matter where the tournament is or how much money it’s for, I just
want to keep playing.
“It’s not a million miles from home, so it’s the perfect chance to get another week of bedding in. I did alright there last time I was there in 2004. I think I was fourth and (Alessandro) Tadini bogeyed the last to give (José-Filipe)
Lima the win,” he added.
Talking about the playing conditions at the Aa Saint-Omer Golf Club in northern France, he said that the course does not look to reward good shots. Therefore, he will have to work extremely hard to post decent scores on the leaderboard
and to mount a title charge on the weekend.
Due to its clash with the dates for the US Open, the tournament organisers had to call a number of European Challenge Tour players to participate in the event this week.
