Simon Dyson is returning after three weeks, at Volvo China Open
Simon Dyson is heading to China, to play the co-sanctioned event, Volvo China Open, scheduled from April 19 to 22, 2012.
The 34-year-old English professional golf player is currently displaying his golfing skills at the European Tour, therefore padding up to play the US $3 million purse event, at the Binhai Lake Golf Club in Tianjin, China.
The Volvo China Open is in the news for having a tough field and for being organised by the OneAsia Tour and the European Tour jointly.
Dyson will join the 156-man field and will tee off on Thursday. He is currently ranked on the 38th position, according to the Official World Golf Rankings.
He started the current season from Volvo Golf Champions and displayed an average performance in January. He scored 1-under 291 and finished tied for the 20th position at tournament day-end.
Then, he moved to Abu Dhabi and played the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship. He again finished among the top-25 leaderboard players and recorded the 17th position there.
Later on, he faced hurdles while scoring at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic and World Golf Championships – Accenture Match Play Championship.
He was unable to maintain his performance and finished on the 33rd position at both the tournaments. After losing focus, he again displayed a mediocre performance and finished on the 72nd position at the WGC - Cadillac Championship.
Dyson also played the first major of the year, the Masters Tournament. He missed the cut there and was unable to proceed after the second round at Augusta.
Last week, he played the Maybank Malaysian Open and improved his scoring to some extent. The Englishman scored 5-under 283 in the four-day European Tour event and finished tied for the 24th in Kuala Lumpur.
Despite facing a tough challenging time in the current season, he is also a 6-time winner of the European Tour events, since turning professional in 1999.
Hence, it can be expected from him that he will play well at the upcoming mega purse event in China. He will be partnered, for the initial two rounds, with the defending champion, Nicolas Colsaerts and with Paul Casey.
The competition is tough and only impressive scoring will help. Dyson will be performing after almost three weeks. The initial two rounds will be difficult for him to compete and to face tough rivals in China.
