Simon Dyson ready for the Ryder Cup
Simon Dyson is one lucky chap as he stands safe on the list of the wild card picks after posting a score of two under in the second round of the Johnnie Walker Championship which is taking place at the Gleneagles, Scotland.
Simon was facing couple of threats as his spot in the final team of the Ryder cup has not been confirmed yet and he is relying on the call of the captain Colin Montgomerie for the wild cards. Despite this confusion, the English man is satisfied as eventually all his threats seem to wipe away leaving the player standing in his safe zone after the second round of the competitive event.
Talking to the press Dyson said, he was firm and confident over the next two days as only they will determine his presence in the mega event of Ryder Cup. He further added that the next thirty six holes are the key to the lock of the biggest tournament of the season therefore he was ready for a spectacular performance. The 32-year-old Yorkian is currently standing tied at the seventh place of the leader board.
Moving forward to another contender of the Ryder Cup and the Johnnie Walker championship; Miguel angel Jimenez, one man Simon Dyson prays to vanish! He posted a 68 with six under par and is standing three shots behind the leaders of the round. Jimenez has to finish in the top seven to kick Simon Dyson out of the top nine and Dyson knows that. As for the trio who is currently enjoying the Top line up with 65s, their names are David Lynn, Gary Boyd and Julien Guerrier. The interesting part of the story is that Boyd and Guerrier are rookies but they have taken over from Richard Finch who was in the list of top nine players but eventually got pushed out.
If this is one side of the picture, with the pushing and snatching going on the team of 12 the other side depicts a cold war between the two captains as Corey is all set to take Tiger in and Colin has given Padraig Harrington the green signal. The purpose behind this action is h**l of entertainment on the greens of Celtic Manor as both the players will give each other a good challenge.
As for the other wild card favourites Paul Casey, who scored a 69 in both rounds of the Johnnie Walker championship and Luke Donald are presumed to get the confirmation which means that Edoardo Molinari and Justin Rose, the 21st and 22nd in the world are surely out of the team.
With Molinari and Rose out of the top nine Simon Dyson is left with only two threats and they are Jimenez and Hanson. Jimenez is likely to be out as he is on the verge of missing the cut but if he does not then Peter Hanson, who won the Czech open last week will surely be out of the top eight which he got after the victory.
This was the second round of the Johnnie Walker championship that is taking place at the Gleneagles. Dyson posted a 70 with Jimenez being only three shots away from the leaders of the round, however according to the experts Simon is going well and he can prove handy for the captain Colin Montgomerie who is currently worried as the final Sunday is due and he is going to finalize the team of 12 men who will compete the Americans at the Celtic Manor in the first week of October, 2010.
Will Jimenez over throw Hanson or will Simon keep up with low scores to make a cut in the next event of the playoffs is a very crucial question but it will be answered very soon. So to find out about the final team of 12, keep guessing!
