Simon Dyson returning to the European Tour, will play the Spanish Open
After displaying several decent finishes at the European Tour staged events, Simon Dyson is planning to perform his best at the Spanish Open.
The 34-year-old English player is gearing up to play the upcoming Reale Seguros Open de España, at the Real Club de Golf de Sevilla, Spain. The official purse of the event is €2,000,000, and all the players are striving to bag it.
Dyson has played five tournaments on the European Tour, two World Golf Championships staged and one major.
He displayed an average performance in all and recorded his best finish, on the 17th position at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship in January.
The six-time European Tour winner won two titles in 2011. It was the Irish Open and KLM Open, where he won the title by one stroke.
He has also added four Asian Tour wins to his profile and finished two major events among the top-10 players on the leaderboard.
Recently, he played the Volvo China Open and was on a layoff. Now, he is rejoining the European Tour, and is also planning to record his best finish in Spain.
Dyson is currently on the 36th world ranking position. He has several chances to improve his rankings by registering impressive and enormous scores at the upcoming Spanish Open.
Last year, Dyson scored a 6-under 282 and finished tied for the 5th position on the leaderboard, along with five other professional players. He shot 75, 67, 72 and 68 in the four rounds, respectively.
He was four strokes behind the leader, Thomas Aiken, and competed well for the title. Aiken won the 2011 edition by scoring a 10-under 278.
He defeated Anders Hansen by two strokes. Aiken will also be defending his title from May 3 to May 6, 2012, in Spain.
This is the last chance for Dyson to tune up his performance before the mega event of the Players Championship. He will be heading to Florida, right after the Spanish Open, to play the PGA Tour staged event.
Analysts also said that he has a good opportunity to improve his game before the $9,500,000 event. If he plays well in Spain, then he can prove his mettle at the Players Championship.
