Simon Gagne remains uncertain to return from concussion issue to join Los Angeles Kings-NHL News
The Los Angeles Kings have the slimmest hopes of return of left wing, Simon Gagne, this season due to persistent concussion problems.
Gagne is out of the side since December 26, 2011, and the management has acknowledged they were least hopeful of the player’s return to the side this year.
According to the general manager, Dean Lombardi, the left wing is still suffering from the concussion like issues.
Even if he gets fit, he will not be able to return before the playoffs. Again, it remains unclear if Kings will be able to hold on to extend the second round’s run so longer that the player could recover and rejoin the squad. Without any recovery timeline,
all the equations and scenarios remain uncertain and as vague hopes.
This comes as disappointing news for the fans who were hoping for the player’s return later in the regular season. With the extended amount of the time that he has consumed for the recovery, the fans’ wishes are yet to come true.
As pointed out by the general manager, the only positive point from the talk around the player’s recovery chances and hopes is that the team evaluates him on weekly basis.
It is rather unfortunate for the player to have remained injury-prone for most of his career. It has dampened his demand and prospects on the free agency as well.
Without Gagne, Kings have managed well in presence of forwards, Jeff Carter and Mike Richards, former Philadelphia players, to progress through the league and remain on the course for the playoffs from the Western Conference.
The team still remains hopeful for Gagne’s return sometime this season. The management, however, has refrained from speculating anything about the latest injury and recovery status, except for that they were evaluating him on the weekly basis.
He has not played a single game or practised along with the team since he is out.
Unfortunate for him, the injury has remained persistent with fluctuated amount of severity. Earlier, the team had set hopes for his comeback in the regular season, but as of the latest, the player has not recovered from the problem.
If he is not able to make himself available in the playoffs, he is definitely done with this year’s NHL run.
