Simon Gray likely to win Maiden Hurdle – Fairyhouse Preview
Simon Gray is likely to unleash a magnificent run at Fairyhouse racecourse on Sunday, April 8 in an effort to clinch top spot in Fairyhouse Vets Promoting Equine Health Maiden Hurdle.
The D. T. Hughes-trained bay gelding is geared up to compete potentially against a number of strong rivals for the huge prize money worth €6,900. The high-stakes contest over 2m distance will commence at 1: 55 (GMT).
Simon Gray accomplished a fabulous hat-trick during April-June 2009. The six-year-old talented horse moved forward to grab 5th spot in a tough race on February 26, 2012.
In the last outing of his career, the maverick young sprinter excellently clinched a runner-up rank against 14 rivals. He was 9-4 favourite for that race.
Overall, the brilliant horse has won 3 out of his total 8 starts to date, earning £14,480 as prize money. His outstanding performances during last couple of months have boosted up his morale to a great extent along with installing him at the top of the betting
market.
Currently, Simon Gray is leading the market. His chances to finish first are as high as 90 percent provided he manages to sustain his stamina.
Among the other runners, God’s County and Hawk Flight are also likely to perform well in the race.
God’s County has won 4 out of his total 22 races to date. The A. J. Martin-trained grey gelding achieved three runner-up ranks in a row during May-July 2011.
Making his debut in September 2007, the talented horse bagged a couple of consecutive triumphs during September-October 2008
On the other hand, Hawk Flight finished 2nd in the last outing of his career on March 17, 2012. Prior to this, the trainee of Miss Maura McGuinness had notched up 4th spot in a race on February 19. During the first month of the calendar
year, he finished 3rd and 2nd in two back-to-back starts.
The race is likely to be packed with thrill. Simon Gray will have to pass through many arduous challenges in a bid to taste victory. Let us see who gains what. Good luck to all the runners.
