Australian veteran, Simon Katich has backed http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 at the MCG.
With a string of impressive performances for his domestic side, Cowan was drafted into the lineup ahead of the underperforming Phil Hughes, and delighted the crowd with a matured knock of 68.
He started his career at http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tasmania-c854 – a move that proved fruitful for the 29-year-old. From there on, he went on to amass big scored and grew in stature, which helped him to gain
a national call up.
His apparent rise in the eyes of selectors had pleased many including Katich, who had words of praise for the opener and reckons a deserved candidate for the opening slot.
"Ed Cowan is definitely ready for Test cricket. He's made a lot of runs this year, he deserves his chance, and he's got a big future ahead of him," he said.
The rise of the Tasmanian player has been largely associated with a troublesome opening position left void by Katich, who endured a turbulent relationship with Cricket http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 after former chairman of selectors axed him in favour of youngster like Phil
Hughes.
However, with Hughes failing to cement a permanent place in the side, the non-selection of the veteran bewildered many. Katich consequently entered in a war of words with the Australian management, criticizing their policies while also blaming current national
team skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978, with whom he had a strained relationship since their high profile dressing room bust up in 2009.
Resounded to have to cope with the ill fate he suffered during his career, Katich feels that he might never get the opportunity to play for the national side again but was grateful for having played 56 Test matches.
"I've got to look at it positively. I've played 56 Tests instead of being stuck on 23 so I will always be grateful for that. There are lots of people worse off than me in the world. As much as it was disappointing to know that I probably wouldn't play Test
cricket again, I've dealt with that, and I'll play cricket for whoever wants me for as long as I can," he added while taking to ‘Sydney Morning Herald’.
