Simon Katich blames dropped catches for NSW’s failure against RCB – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823, blamed a couple of dropped catches for his team’s defeat against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the first semi-final game of the Champions League T20 tournament. The match was played
at M Chinaswamy Stadium, Bangalore, yesterday, October 7, 2011.
Batting first, the NSW compiled a mammoth total of 203 runs, courtesy to the 123-run, unbeaten knock by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DA-Warner-c1301.
In turn, the RCB played a startling innings, chasing down the target convincingly. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/V-Kohli-c2737, the one-down batsman, pushed the score further
with his epic boundaries, taking RCB to the finals.
Much to their bad luck, the Wales' fielders gave two chances to Kohli, who took full advantage and went on a rampage, turning the game to his side.
Talking to the media during the post-match presentation ceremony, Katich said, “Virat was brilliant, Gayle was awesome. We tried different lengths, different paces, it was a big learning experience for the young bowlers, probably a couple of dropped catches
cost us today. Earlier on the ball was holding up a bit.”
Lauding his two batsmen’s excellent knocks, the RCB skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DL-Vettori-c1384 told, “They (Gayle and Kohli) are confident enough to back their games but you have still to play exceptionally well. It is pure batsmanship and it’s enthralling to watch. Some of
the bowlers will look forward to not playing here.”
Katich seemed much disillusioned after having lost the game after a strenuous struggle by his players. He termed it to be a great setback; however, he did appreciate his players for the show they put up.
The 36-year-old was dropped from his national squad by Australian selectors despite the fact that he had marvellous batting averages. In the backdrop of his ouster, he signed a new contract with his home side, the NSW.
