Simon Katich, the axed Australian Test opener, has decided not to challenge his termination in court and prove himself with the bat to ensure his place in the Kangaroo side again.
Katich was dropped from the list of centrally contracted players for the 2011-12 season, by Cricket http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 (CA) last week.
Despite the fact that the batsman had an opportunity to sue the board under age discrimination laws, he did not opt for this discourse as he wanted to avoid any further tussle with the selectors who might block his way to play the international cricket permanently.
Talking to the local media, Katich revealed that he had asked his management not to consider legal action as a possible option since he preferred proving himself on the field rather than in a court of law.
He further stated, “There has been so http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gordon-Muchall-c1499 speculation about the age of our team. Look, obviously that is never going to be mentioned because of the legalities, but in my last three seasons I have had the numbers on the board.”
Though the actual cause behind Katich’s ouster is still unknown, different circles cite different causes. Some consider his age factor responsible for his demise and some link the matter to his dispute with the current Australian Skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-John-Clarke-c76008,
two years back.
As far as Katich is concerned, he has dismissed the second reason but is concerned about the age factor.
He accepts that he is ageing but he claims that he has never gone out-of-form and has always done well with the bat.
Katich has received massive support from both the former and current players who think consider dismissal to be unfair, especially given his recent form and performances.
However, the 35-year-old does not want to waste his time in rows and legal battles and has announced to play for his state side, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823, during this season. With his performance in the upcoming season, he is hoping to regain his lost place in the
national side.
