Simon Katich fractures thumb, in doubt for Ashes
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746’s preparation for the Ashes received another jolt as Simon Katich revealed that he had suffered from a broken thumb during his tour of India. Katich said that the fractured thumb had occurred
in India at the start of the series but the seriousness of the inury was only revealed after he returned back home at the end of the two Test matches. India won the two Test match series 2-0.
Katich has hoped that he will be able to prepare for the Ashes by featuring in his first class side, New South Wales' Sheffield Shield game against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Victoria-c859 from 10 November. The first Ashes Test match starts
from November 25 and he will look to get into full fitness by then.
Katich also ruled out having an operation because that would keep him out of international cricket for some time. He told the
Australian: "The specialist said there was no point having surgery because I'd be out for some time so we just have to see how it settles down."
Katich also claimed that batting was more difficult while preparing for games during the net sessions. He admitted that he had his difficulties in the first test match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
"It definitely hindered me during the first Test in Mohali. I felt like I was batting one-handed. It felt better in the second Test but the big problem was it affected my preparation. I had to stop hitting
balls."
Katich’s injury meant that he could score only 110 runs in the four innings that he batted in and could not provide the side the customary good starts that he has done in the company of Shane http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326.
Australia have other injury issues as well with fitness concerns over the presence of Brad Haddin, Peter Siddle, Ryan Harris and Doug Bollinger. Haddin and Siddle have been named in the ODI squads to give
