http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SM-Katich-c2543 hails Argus review but not hopeful of his return – Cricket News Update
Simon Katich, the dumped Australian Test opener, has lauded the recommendations of Argus report and the installation of a new selection panel, but does not believe that these moves are going to make an impact on his crippled career.
The axed batsman is not optimistic about his comeback as he thinks that the new selectors are also not likely to give him due favour. However, he is happy with the overhaul that the Aussies have experienced in the backdrop of the report.
Talking to media, Katich said, “Who's in charge is I don't think going to make too much difference to my situation. I haven't read too much into that to be honest because I've got to go out there and perform this season for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823 and that's all
my focus is at this point in time.”
He further told, “I think everyone realized there was some issues that needed to be addressed and it's good that the report has finally come out and there's been some recommendations made for change.”
Argus report, which is based on the review of team http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746’s International records in the last couple of years, came into the limelight a few weeks back. It recommended huge shuffling in the managerial ranks of Cricket Australia (CA) with special focus
on the selection committee, which bore most of the burnt in the reports' findings.
Katich believes that Don Argus, a former Australian banker, has done a marvellous job by making the national cricket bosses realised where they stand wrong. He opines that it was the need of the hour and hopes that it will go a long way to improve Kangaroo
cricket.
Despite being a consistent batsman with a Test average of 45.03, Katich was denied a central contract a few months ago by the former selection group, led by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Mark-Jefferson-Hilditch-c44498. This untoward decisions drew a lot of criticism. However, the 36-year-old signed
with New South Wales for this season.
The left-hander has played 56 Tests, 45 ODIs and 3 T20Is so far since making his International debut in 2001.
Now, most of the cricket experts believe that Katich’s Test career is not likely to resume as his age will not permit him to bat in the longer format.
