Simon Katich should have put one on Michael Clarke in 2009, says Greg Matthews – Cricket News Update

According to the 51-year-old, the right-handed batsman, Clarke deserved to be slapped on face over his behaviour in the dressing room after winning the Sydney Test.
"Can anyone truly, and I don't care if the press are here or not, can anyone just truly say to me what did he get wrong? One thing he got wrong was that he did not put one on Clarke when he should have," he told Foxsports.
The 30-year-old, Clarke, who was the Australian vice-captain at that time, wanted to sing the team song to leave the celebrations as soon as possible, as he was looking to spend time with his family.
However, the left-handed batsman, Katich did not like Clarke’s behaviour, and grabbed him by his throat.      
The team management sorted out the quarrel between them at that time, but it has been generally perceived that both the players still hold a grudge against each other following the episode.
Recently, Cricket Australia (CA) dropped the Western Australia-born, Katich from its list of contracted players.  
Meanwhile, Katich claimed that his confrontation with the present captain of the Australian side, Clarke, was the reason behind his axing
The veteran of 56 Tests and 45 ODIs, asserted that the Aussie skipper forced CA to sideline him, as he did not want him to play for the country.   
On the other hand, the Australian captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120, categorically clarified that he was not involved in the decision to drop Katich.
Coming back to Matthews’ statement, he urged the governing body of Cricket in Australia to include Katich in the team as captain.  
Matthews, who served http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 in 33 Tests, and 59 ODIs, claimed that the 36-year-old batsman is fully capable of leading the national side.
"Pick this guy (Katich) as captain, get (Tim) Paine in as vice-captain I tell you what, we'd be doing a lot better than how we're doing today," he added in the same interview.
