The dumped Australian Test opener, Simon Katich, is set to face a court hearing under Cricket Australia's Code of Behaviour for his derogatory statements against the incumbent Aussie skipper, Michael http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120. He is also likely to get a ban from playing state
cricket.
A few days back, Katich blamed Clarke for influencing the National Selection Panel (NSP) and prompting his ouster from the contract list for the year 2011-12. He termed his duel with the former vice-captain as a cause of his axing, which he thinks to be
unfair.
Following the star batsman’s allegations, both Clarke and the CA chief, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Alexander-Sutherland-c65430, strongly denied and condemned this act and the board served him a show-cause notice.
“I was particularly disappointed at the comments yesterday after the discussions we had with Katich in mid-2011 on inappropriate public comments he had made then,” stated Sutherland who also claimed that the NSP took the decision to rest Katich for this
season after keen deliberations, and there was no external influence on the board regarding this matter.
It is also feared that the CA may impose a heavy fine of 5,750 pounds on Kat and bar him from playing the ongoing domestic First-Class tournament for News South Wales. Apart from this, the court of law may also impose some severe penalties on the veteran
cricketer.
The legendary opener, who has 10 Test hundreds to his name, has been critical of the board and some of the senior Australian players since the last few months. His voice has also been backed by world cricket experts and many of the former and current cricketers,
as all consider his termination to be unfair.
The 36-year-old left-handed batsman has represented the Aussies in 56 Test, 45 ODI and 3 T20I matches so far since his International debut in 2001. He has 4188 Test and 1324 ODI runs to his name.
Katich’s records in the domestic cricket are also impressive as he has batting averages of 53.16 percent in First-Class and 36.89 percent in List A formats of the game. It is the reason he is not ready to digest his demise so easily.
