Simon Katich, the former Australian Test opener, is committed to stay at top of his game even after his axing by Cricket http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 (CA), for the upcoming season.
The veteran batsman will now be playing for his home side, New South Wales, he revealed in a press conference today, in Sydney.
Though Katich is highly frustrated by his ouster from the national team, he still hopes that selectors will consider him for the next season.
Katich was shown the door by the board of selectors on Tuesday, without giving any solid reasons.
The veteran’s ouster has provoked a hot debate in Australian cricketing ranks, as both the former and current players have come up to oppose the move. Katich’s fans are also protesting against this unjust decision of CA.
Some former Aussie players, like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shane-Keith-Warne-c89672, are staunchly supporting the aggrieved Katich. They argue that it is absolutely unfair to axe a player who has been in-form and consistent throughout his career.
The 35-year-old left-handed batsman, since making his Test debut in 2001, has been averaging around 45.  Apart from Test cricket, he has several stellar ODI performances as well. The veteran has 56 Tests, 45 ODIs and 3 T20Is to his credit.
Warne said, "Katich losing his contract was a bit disappointing because I think he's been a true performer for a while.”
Slater tells, “Statistically for the past three years he has been our best performer, then he gets injured and doesn't play for the rest of the summer.”
Most of analysts in Australia and abroad believe that Katich’s demise is a result of his tussle with the current skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-John-Clarke-c76008, which erupted in the dressing room two years back.
Katich, in order to keep in-touch with the game, has decided to play for his state side, that is ready to welcome him since he is a reliable batsman.
