The left-arm spinner, Simon Kerrigan, has everything it takes to become a world-class bowler, said the English domestic Country http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Peter-Moores-c81848.
Moores’ remarks came after Simon’s extraordinary performance in a County Championship Division One match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hampshire-c789. In the 4-day match, played at Aigburth from September 7 to September
10, 2011, the off-spinner claimed 12 scalps including a nine wicket-haul in the second innings, powering his side to a thrilling 222-run victory.
The match-winning show against Hampshire was not his first in the season as he has shown his class in the earlier games of the championship. In three games so far, the aggressive off-spinner
has grabbed 20 wickets at an excellent average of 12.60.
Moores believes that Kerrigan holds the potential to produce unplayable deliveries as he has many dangerous variations in his off-spins.
“He has the ability to put pace on the ball, he's got two or three different deliveries and how he bowled in the second innings was the quality of an international spinner - that's the highest
compliment I can pay. He got good players out with fairly unplayable balls on a pitch that became quite Sub-continental,” said Moores who has an experience of 231 first-class games under his belt.
Kerrigan is quite a young lad to the highest form of English domestic cricket, as he played in only 17 first-class matches so far. Yet, he fascinated the whole cricketing fraternity within
English with his outstanding show in the recent matches.
Being a former wicket-keeper, Moores has a massive experience of watching spinners showing their magic. He shared that the 22-year-old offie is one of the best youngsters he has seen in his
cricketing career.
"He's got a great combination; a great work ethic and real belief in his own ability and they are what you need to be a top-flight player," added the Lancashire coach who looked satisfied
with his team's performance so far in the tournament - nine wins in 15 games.
Meanwhile, he hoped that Kerrigan will produce equally good performances in the next season and subsequently make his way to the national crew.
