Simon Santoso fails as Hans-kristian follows success trail in All England Open – Badminton news
The top Indonesian shuttler Simon Santoso failed in an opening match against the Danish player Hans-kristian Vittinghus and faced a first round exit from the All England Open on March 7, 2012.
The World Number 11 Simon Santoso was Indonesia’s biggest hope for the crown but the Dane Hans-kristian buried this hope by claiming the victory with decisive score of 21-14, 8-21 and 21-7.
The both contenders sweat hard for 53 minutes and match kept swinging between the two shuttlers as both were equal with 1-1 match score until the second set but the Dane excelled his Indonesian rival in the end with significant 2-1 lead.
The Danish shuttler showed his intentions by pushing his opponent on back foot from very first set and swiftly registered his 1-0 lead on the board. The Indonesian shuttler Simon Santoso tried his level best but could not go with the pace and kept trailing
behind Hans-kristian which cost him a precious match point.
The Dane was a treat to watch when he forced his opponent to bow down as scoreboard was flashing final first set score of 21-14.
The Indonesian shuttler Simon Santoso displayed his craft in the next set and stormed back with a strong reply. He outclassed the Dane in all departments of game and registered his class by levelling the lead.
The Indonesian pushed his Danish challenger Hans-kristian in all areas of court and did not give him a single chance to retaliate. Simon Santoso kept the hopes alive by snatching second set with a distinctive margin of 21-8.
A lot of firework was expected in the decider, but contrary to that, the third set completely belonged to the World Number 18 Danish champ Hans-kristian.
The top Indonesian player Simon Santoso was gone with the wind as the Danish Hans-kristian sealed the victory by registering the final figures of 21-7 on the scoreboard.
He blew away the Indonesian with his gutsy performance.
However, the real challenge awaits the Dane as Hans-kristian will now lock horns with the victor of first round match between the top seeded Malaysian Lee Chong Wei and Zhengming Wang of China.
On the other hand, after Simon Santoso, Indonesia has its biggest stake in All England Open in form of Taufik Hidayat who still is racing for the honour.
