Simon Santoso overpowers Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk in Men’s Singles round-of-16 at Japan Open 2012
Indonesia’s Simon Santoso, one of the most talented shuttlers in the world, delivered a phenomenal performance on court and remained successful in securing a quarter-final berth after defeating Thailand’s Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk in Men’s Singles round-of-16
contest at the Yonex Japan Open 2012 on Thursday, September 20, in Japan.
The third seeded Santoso, who is currently positioned at number five in Men’s Singles world ranking, played at his best as he faced not trouble in crushing his lower ranked Thai opponent in a completely dominating manner.
Santoso has been showing a steady performance for the last one year and has got elevation in world ranking. He is top Indonesian shuttler at the moment and is considered a worthy successor to the former Olympic and World Champion Taufik Hidayat.
The in-form Indonesian shuttler put up remarkable show of aggressive badminton in the pre-quarter-final contest and he easily managed to overpower his opponent in straight games with a one-sided score in just 30 minutes.
On the other hand, the un-seeded Tanongsak played to his best speed but failed to create any trouble for his rival throughout the battle. He could not dominate the pace of rallies in the whole battle and eventually lost the match with a lopsided difference
on score board.
In the first set, Santoso was everywhere on court as he played dominating badminton and did not spare even a single chance to earn points.
Until the end of first half, Santoso played with precision and took a reasonable lead until the one-minute break.
After the mid-game interval, Santoso continued putting up spectacular show of top class badminton and managed to end up the opening set in a striking way with a 21-8 score on the board.
The second set was also the same when the Indonesian player took over the control of the pace and remained dominant in all areas of the court. He managed to put up strong show and established a comfortable lead until the interval.
Santoso continued his killing performance after the break and eventually took the set with a one-sided score of 21-11.
The Indonesian player remained successful in winning this battle in a lopsided way with a stunning margin of 21-8 and 21-11.
