Simon Santoso punishes Raul Must in Men’s Singles Group B contest at 2012 London Olympics
Indonesia’s ace shuttler Simon Santoso proved his elite class on court when he severely punished his lower ranked rival Raul Must of Estonia in Men’s Singles Group B clash at the 2012 London Olympics at Wembley Arena, London, on Sunday, July 29.
The ninth seeded Santoso, who is currently World Number Six in Men’s Singles draw of the tournament, played with greater level of confidence and easily overpowered Raul in an emphatic fashion.
The higher ranked Indonesian player was in terrific form on court as he tested all of his shots against Raul and easily registered a spectacular win over him by ending up the battle in straight games with a lopsided margin on the board.
In the meanwhile, the un-seeded Raul failed to compete well against the mighty Indonesian as he could not maintain his speed on court and eventually lost the battle in straight sets without creating even a slight trouble for Santoso.
In the opening set, Raul showed his brilliance by playing at his maximum speed but he failed to shake his rival from the base live and remained struggling against the deceptive shots of his Indonesian rival.
On the other hand, Santoso remained calm and composed on court and played with impressive precision which helped him to remain ahead on score board until the one-minute break.
After the interval, the Indonesian player continued his fabulous run without showing any respect to his opponent and he easily took advantage in this Men’s Singles contest by grabbing opening set with a superb 21-12 score on the board.
In the second game, it was Santoso who put up staggering performance when he pushed his rival on back foot and also grabbed sensational lead until the one-minute break.
After the break, the ninth seeded Indonesian player remained on track as he did not lose his focus and continued playing positive and aggressive badminton.
Santoso easily managed to snatch the second set from Raul with a superb 21-8 score on the board.
The in-form Santoso registered a comprehensive win over Raul in straight games with a killing margin of 21-12 and 21-8.
