Simon Santoso registers win over Shesar Hiren Rhustavito in second round of the Chinese Taipei Open
Indonesia’s Simon Santoso registered a comprehensive win over his compatriot, Shesar Hiren Rhustavito in the Men’s Singles second round at the 2011 Chinese Taipei Open, on Thursday, September 8, in Chinese Taipei.
Santoso found his momentum as he has played positive badminton in both the first and second round matches. While playing against his team-mate, Shesar Hiren in the Men’s Singles second round of the event, the higher ranked Santoso displayed a top-class game
and finished off the match in straight sets.
World Number 18 ranked shuttler and the fifth seed of the event, Santoso has been suffering with a terrible bad patch for the last eight months but now he is finding better form in the Taipei open. He is in good shape now after working really hard in the
training sessions for the last few months. Santoso’s body language indicates that he is back on the right track to win glory in this event.
The first set of this Men’s Singles second round match was interesting in the starting points, as both country-mates played positive badminton. However, Santoso gradually controlled proceedings by pacing up the rallies and reached 11-6, at the interval.
After the break, the fifth seed continued his strong grip over the match by playing with precision. His semi-smashes coupled with deceptive pushes at the net were his most effective weapons that helped him in winning the first game with a big margin of 21-12,
in just 9 minutes.
The following game was also the same as Santoso quickly occupied the driving seat and dictated the pace of the game. His anticipation was quite incredible which assisted him in picking the bird early from all corners of the court.
Shesar Hiren failed to generate sufficient power in his strokes as his opponent was not sparing any chance for him to make effective use of his smashes. Santoso’s positive game earned him an easy win in the second game with a margin of 21-13, in just 11
minutes. This 20-minute battle finished off in the favour of Santoso with a 21-12 and 21-13 margin.
