Simon Sivitz Kosuta and Jas Farneti lead at 2012 470 Junior World Championships in Auckland
Fourth day of the 2012 470 Junior World Championships at the Takapuna Boating Club on the North Shore of Auckland witnessed some exciting sailing display from the Italian crew of Simon Sivitz Kosuta and Jas Farneti. The Italian duo sailed brilliantly again
on Auckland waters to hold on to their overall lead of the 470 Men-Mixed fleet with seven points after eight races, including a discard.
Sivitz Kosuta and Farneti put up a marvellous show on Waitemata Harbour and were able to clinch two bullets in both races on Day 4. The only lower finish they compiled was in the first race where they crossed the finish line on ninth position but after that,
the pair had a scintillating sailing experience throughout their campaign at the Takapuna Boating Club to hit the top podium spot.
Weather conditions on the fourth day were quite ideal as the forecast was clear with a blue sky and moderate sea breeze helped sailors complete the fourth day proceedings on time. The 470 Men-Mixed fleet had some close competitions on the race course that
provided spectators with thrilling scenes.
The Italian duo is currently leading the fleet at seven points with seven bullets in their score line. New Zealand’s 20-year-old James Turner and Finn Drummond managed to claim the second spot overall with 29 points. Reaching the Italians seems quite difficult
for the Kiwis. However, they should be worried about the Aussies, Matthew and Robert Crawford, who are closing in with 35 points and are on third place.
