The former Vicenza midfielder thinks that the Bianconeri boss has changed in his management approach in comparison to his Atalanta days.
Midfielder Simone Padoin believes that current Juventus boss, Antonio Conte, used to be more vocal and inflexible in his management ideologies during his time with Atalanta.
The former Italy-U21 international joined the Turin giants on the deadline day of the January transfer window from Atalanta. Padoin has worked with Conte during the tactician’s coaching stint at Atalanta, too. The former Bari boss
resigned from his post after struggling to perform with the Bergamo club, who were embroiled in a relegation battle.
Having witnessed his managerial style with the Nerazzurri, the versatile player stands in a better position than many to comment on Conte’s transformation. Padoin has seen a marked difference in the approach employed by the 42-year-old
at Juve, in comparison to his managerial stint at Atalanta. He believes that the former Siena boss was inflexible, and fielded same set of tactics for every opposition.
Commenting on the change, the midfielder told the Juventus Channel:
“He seems quieter now as compared to the time spent in Bergamo, especially in the training sessions.”
Reflecting on the inflexibility the former Siena boss showed at Atalanta, Padoin mentioned that he always seemed to prefer a specific formation, and deployed it regardless of the opposition.
“I think he has deeply changed from the tactical point of view, because before he was always loyal to his 4-2-4 system, and now he’s shown to be able to change it according to the rivals, and I believe this can be appreciated,”
continued the January signing.
However, the former Atalanta star continued by saying that Conte still manages his team with authority, and pushes his players to play to the best of their abilities.
“However, he’s still a ‘hammer’, he hasn’t changed from this point of view,” stated Padoin.
Juventus have remained unbeaten in all competitions this season, and are with a strong chance of winning the domestic silverware. Many pundits have hailed the Turin side’s style of play, with Arrigo Sacchi recently branding their
football as the best in the country this season.
