Simonsberg all set to crush competition at Musselburgh
The racecourse at Musselburgh will be heating up on 16th February 2012, as race fans anxiously wait for the Eildon Hill Stables Hunters’ Chase to begin. The Class 6 race will cover a distance of 2 miles and 4 furlongs. The purse
money for this race is a £1,560.
A total of 8 contenders will be competing in this race. Simonsberg, Spellchecker, Hard To Name, Rugged Jem, Sam McCoombe, Silverburn, The Green Hat, and Honest and True will be competing for the prize.
Simonsberg is being named the top contender as his career record has been impressive. He has been influential in the past year, with quite a few victories to his name. He bolted past competition, and maintained the lead at the Kirkistown course in
the RK Trucks Centre Open on 2nd April, 2011.
He acquired another victory at Largy racecourse in the Buy Seafood Online www.Mourneseafood.com Open on 16th April, 2011 by defeating Rock On Tom.
He blazed through the Ballingarry racecourse on 6th June, 2011 at the Jimmy Neville Memorial Race Open, living up to his expectation being sent as the race favourite.
Silverburn will be racing after a long break. This race might be his chance to show his full potential, as he has not won a single race in the last 4 years. He finished 3rd in his last race, in the Lord Mildmay Memorial Handicap
Chase, held at the Newton Abbot racecourse on 21st August 2010.
His return from his long break could be a positive sign. His form can only be judged from his performance in this race.
Spellchecker is not a top contender in this race, but he turned in a commendable performance in his last race. He finished second, next to Abragante at Sedgefield in the John Hellens Contracts Northern Hunts Hunters’ Chase, which was held on 10thMay
2011.
Hard To Name is also competing, but he is not a concern for the bookies because of his dismal track record. He has been injured throughout his racing career, and has been pulled out from races on multiple occasions.
Another challenger is Sam McCoombe, but he has never been labelled as the favourite. His performances have been average, and he has not finished first in the last 4 years.
Rugged Gem has the habit of pulling up from races, and falling mid track unseating his jockey’s, and therefore his chances in today’s race are bleak as well.
The prediction is that the race will be led by Simonsberg. All the other contenders are don’t have enough going their way to challenge the expected winner, but Silverburn could finish second.
